William Dwayne Spohn of McGregor, passed away unexpectedly January 12, 2021, at the age of 83. A visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday Jan. Jan. 16, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church. The memorial service will follow with Pastor Bill Snappenfield officiating. Private inurnment will be in Moody Cemetery under the direction of Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Mr. Spohn was born Feb. 16, 1937, in Temple Texas, the son of the late William Norwood and Adela Alma (Grenwelge) Spohn. In 1955, he graduated from Troy High School and Married Sarah A. Raby May 21, 1958. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage and union together. During which time, not only did their love grow, they reared three boys who they loved with whole hearts.
Dwayne fulfilled his civic duty by being a volunteer fireman from 1961 to 1967. He was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church, fulfilling multiple leadership positions throughout the years. Dwayne went above his local duty to serve his country in the Army Reserves for 8 years.
Through the years, Mr. Spohn was employed by various entities; Austin Baking Co., General Tire, Wittie’s Food Store, Trane and more recently Brookshire Gas Station.
It has been said, Dwayne was a man of few words. However, when he spoke, he said volumes, as he was an inspiration to all who knew him, and a friend to all.
Survivors include his wife Sarah; Three sons, Terry Spohn and wife Denise of Temple, Tracy and Troy Spohn of McGregor; two sisters Willa Dean Irish and husband James, Barbara Spohn and Brother Larry Spohn of Troy; special friend, Mike and Jonie Campbell of Gatesville; Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
