William Russell Harman was born March 23, 1938 in Byars, Oklahoma, and having fought the good fight, he passed away May 7th, 2016. Services will be held at Woodway First United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 12th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Known to his friends as Russ, he was proud to have served in the United States Air Force for 30 years. As a decorated pilot, he flew B-52’s, FB-111’s, and was flying AWACS when he retired in 1983. He accumulated numerous decorations and medals, but was most proud of being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Along with his love of God and country, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and most of all, his family. Married to Sandra for 54 years, theirs was a marriage built on a love of God and family. He was a devoted father and grandfather, who in any situation, was ready with advice, encouragement, and an entertaining story. He was a devoted member of the Connections Sunday School Class at Woodway First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, and his children and grandchildren: Terry, Helen, and Olivia Harman; Teresa Harman; Anya, Jason, and Holden Partain; Charles Kelly; Trey and daughter Aubrey Kelly; Tami, Steve, Paige, and Emily Mabry.
