Wilburn Dreyer

Wilburn T. Dreyer 78, of Waco passed away Wednesday, June 05, 2013 at home. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on June 15, 2013 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Rust officiating.

Wilburn was born in Mart, Texas to Theodore and Elner Annie (Schlemmer). He was a graduate of Axtell High School and Sam Houston State University.

He married Dorothy Louise Cranford on July 21, 1967 in La Porte, Texas. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, after 43 years of service. He was the County Executive Director for the FSA McLennan County office for most of those years. He served Galveston, San Augustine and Falls County before coming back home.

Wilburn served on his church consistory. He grew up in this church and loved the people and the life he led attending. He also served on the committee of TASCO his jobs association. He was a member of Galveston, San Augustine and Falls County Lions Club. One of his great joys was volunteering for the H.O.T. Fair within their live stock showcases for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson, Layton Lee Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dorothy of Waco; daughters, Terry Jo and husband Mitchell Smith of China Spring, Melissa Ann and husband Kelly Waters of Woodway; grandchildren, Michael Smith and wife DeeAnn, Sherry Beeman and husband Robert, and Abigail Waters; great- grandchildren, Haley, Austin, Makayla, Avori, and Addison Smith, and Jolee and Jake Beeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
