Wendell Arnold

Woodway

Wendell Rae Arnold passed away at the age of 78 on Saturday, December 28, 2019.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Woodway, TX on Tuesday, December 31st at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation immediately following the service.

Wendell was born in Ft. Worth, TX to the late Clifton and Rachel (Cooper) Arnold. He was raised in McGregor, TX where he attended McGregor schools and was a beloved member of the MHS Class of 1960. He was instrumental in planning many class reunion events where he shared his amazing spirit of fun and created wonderful memories for all. After proudly serving in the United States Navy, Wendell received his Master Plumbers License. He was in the plumbing industry his entire life. He owned his own business and served the McGregor/Waco area until moving to the Dallas area where he worked for TD Industries until retiring in 2003.

Wendell lived life to the fullest and loved without measure. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose enthusiasm and zest for life meaningfully impacted all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was well known for his pranks and shenanigans. Everyone would agree, he was a master story teller. He brought life to the party whether it be sharing his stories over the campfire at deer camp or sitting under a blanket teepee with a grandchild or any of the many children who lovingly called him Poppie. He was a genuine person with a big heart, especially when it came to children. Wendell was never too busy to lend a hand or take a moment to have fun and bring a little sunshine into your day.

Wendell leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Norma Arnold; sons James Clifton Arnold, David Arnold and wife Stacey; step-daughters Deanna Robinett and husband Keith, Terri Schmalriede and husband Chris Schlottmann; grandchildren Cassi Arnold and husband Greg Spakes and her mother Connie Davis, Josh Arnold, David Nemec, Steven Nemec, Landon Robinett and wife Nina, Kylie Robinett; great-grandchildren Clayton Milam and his dad Craig Milam, and Tanner Spakes; sister Cheryl Murphy; brother Gary Arnold and wife Linda; and many other family members, special friends, and loved ones. He cherished every one of you. He was Poppie and Uncle Wendy to many.

Wendell/Poppie was one of a kind and a true treasure. He leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but he left his magic behind in the hearts of all that loved him and he will never be forgotten.

For those desiring in honor of Poppie’s love for children, please consider donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or visit stjude.org to make your donation online.
