Biography

Wauneta Kathryn Yelken Butler passed away, March 23, 2012 at the Senior Care facility in Hewitt, TX.

Wauneta was born on December 11, 1928 on her parent’s farm located in Franklin County Nebraska near the community of Macon. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1945 and married fellow high school classmate, John Calvin Butler, on January 28, 1951. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary prior to his death later that same year. Wauneta entered the Order of Eastern Star, Franklin Chapter No. 213, in 1952 and was a member at the time of her death. The Butlers lived in Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma before settling in Waco, TX in 1967. Wauneta was a devoted wife and loving mother/grandmother and housewife her entire life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hippe and Dora Yelken; husband, John Butler; and, her sister Geraldine Decker.

She is survived by her four children: Warren Butler of Robinson, TX; James Butler and wife, Jody, Woodway, TX; Ramona Butler Moon and husband, Mark, of Robinson, TX; and, William “Bill” Butler and wife, Shaila of Bruceville/Eddy, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Ryan Moon, Jenna Moon Lane, Kathryn Moon, Rachel Butler, Katy Butler Corley, and Brody Butler, great-grandson, Evan Lane and numerous cousins. At her request, Wauneta chose not to have a funeral service, but rather a private family service at a date to be determined.
