Virginia Gero

Virginia. Gero, 83, entered into rest with Our Lord on March 19, 2017, in Waco. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 on Wednesday, March 22nd, at Grace Gardens in Woodway. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Moody Cemetery.

Virginia was born in Willow Grove, Texas, the 6th of 7 girls born to Audry and Shad Morris. After graduation from Moody High School, Virginia moved to Waco with her best friend Mary Ellen Bullock, where she met the man of her dreams, Harry Gero, a Yankee, Catholic, Service Man. The two fell in love and were married six months later. Virginia and Harry lived in peace and joy and were the model of a loving couple. While stationed in California, they adopted a baby girl, Traci, and soon after Harry retired from the Air Force. They returned to Waco, where they lived among friends and family for 25 years. In the early 1990s, Harry and Virginia again retired and moved to San Antonio, where they resumed bowling and enjoying their new life. They helped Traci build her Real Estate company and Virginia was always there to love, support, and laugh with the Realtors. On a few occasions she even served as their love life adviser. Mom joked that she needed a sign on her door that said The Doctor is In. She loved to make people smile.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry and 3 sisters, Willie Merle Coulter, LaNelle Howerton, and Clarine Lynch.

She is survived by her daughter, Traci Annette Lewis and her husband, Scott, 2 grandchildren, Laken Heath and Lauden Gray Lewis, all from San Antonio, sisters Catherine Poe, of Moody, Texas, Annette Jones and Oveta Bolt and husband, Clark, of Woodway, Texas, brother in law, Ernest Gero and his wife, Genevieve, of Malone, New York, a host of nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
