Vernon Rogers

Vernon B. Rogers age 90, of Waco passed away Monday February 13, 2012 at a local hospital with his family by his side. Funeral Services will be 2PM Wednesday February 15, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Tuesday February 14, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Vernon was born August 29, 1921 in Milnesand, New Mexico to Walter and Ruth Rogers. After high school he met the love of his life Wanda Sloan in Portales, New Mexico and they were married on October 9, 1944. He joined the Army Air Corp serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas for 38 years. He lived in various cities throughout West Texas and New Mexico before retiring. He and Wanda moved to Waco to be near their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Neva Blanche Hargrove and a brother Allen Rogers.

Vernon is survived by his wife Wanda of 67 years; a daughter Pat Edwards of Irving, Texas; a son Don Rogers and his wife Sandy of Lorena; a grandson Michael Edwards and three granddaughters Angel Pritchett and husband Dean, Stephanie Mashhoon and husband Mani, Mandy Dreyer and husband Michael; five great grandchildren Hunter, Mina, Dylan, Christopher and Amin.
