Louise Hillyer, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away on February 7, 2025, at her home in Waco, Texas, surrounded by the warmth of her children. Born on February 28, 1946, in Abilene, Texas, Louise lived a life rich with love, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. A time of greeting with the family will begin at 1pm at Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde, followed by a graveside service at Clyde Cemetery begining at 2pm.
Louise was a dedicated dental assistant for over thirty years in Big Spring, a profession she approached with care and compassion. Her work not only illustrated her strong work ethic but also her desire to contribute positively to the lives of those around her. She was a proud graduate of Abilene High School, where the seeds of her remarkable journey were first sown.
An artistic spirit, Louise found joy in sewing and knitting, creating treasures that warmed hearts and homes alike. Her passion for flowers was evident in her home, which she adorned with seasonal blooms, each arrangement a testament to her eye for beauty and creativity. As a member of the First Baptist Church in Clyde, she fostered a deep sense of community and faith that enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Deeply devoted to her family, Louise's summers were spent entertaining her grandchildren, engaging them in delightful chores such as snapping peas and shucking corn. This hands-on nurturing not only imparted important life skills but also wove a tapestry of cherished memories that her family will hold dear forever.
Louise is survived by her devoted sister, Barbara Steph; loving daughter, Tina Buffington and her husband Thomas; her son, Eric Hillyer; and her cherished grandchildren: Amanda Fox and her children, Ava and Aidyn; Jake Giles and his child, Caisen; Jessica Buffington and her children, Jonathan, Braxton, and Chase; Megan Buffington; and Danielle Goad and her husband Cory, along with their children, Gabby and Greyson.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee Hillyer, and her parents, Mae and Floyd Thomas, who instilled in her values that would guide her throughout her life.
In her passing, Louise leaves behind a legacy filled with love—a legacy that will grow through the lives she touched and the memories she created. As pallbearers Jake Giles, Corey Goad, Jon Buffington, Shane Stephens, and Braxton Buffington carry her to her final resting place, they honor a woman who embodied grace, strength, and an enduring spirit of kindness. Louise Hillyer will be remembered not only for her loving nature but as a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her.
