Velda Christine Williamson McCollum of Eddy, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010, Wellington Place in Temple, Texas. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 10, at Cottonwood Baptist Church in Lorena. Bro. Buddy Sipe officiating.
Velda was born February 8, 1935 in Tatum, Texas. She attended Tyler Jr. College and participated as an Apache Bell in 1953. She earned her Associates degree in art from Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California in 1975. She owned and operated a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Austin in the 1980’s. She worked in Human Resources at MHMR in the 1990’s in Temple and later at Hancock Fabrics also in Temple. Her hobbies included Painting, Cooking, Gardening, Quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Nelda Cardwell of West Plains, Missouri; 3 children, Lisa Cockrell of Eddy, Texas, West McCollum of Wasilla, Alaska, and Shawn Parker of Eddy, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
Velda accepted Christ as her Savior as a child and faithfully served Him her entire life. Because of her faith in Him, she dances in Heaven even now.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all honorarium be donated to Community Vision Ministries of Bruceville-Eddy (Vision Ministries), 310 Horseshoe Bend, Eddy, TX 76524.
