Trudi Peak passed away January 8, 2017 in a New Braunfels hospital. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, with the Rev. Roger McClary officiating.
Trudi was born January 19, 1951 in Libertyville, IL to Robert Edward and Trula Faye (Ward) Harrison. She grew up in eastern Oklahoma and far west Texas. She graduated from Pecos High School and McMurry College. She later received her Master’s in Public Administration from Tarleton State University. She worked 10 years for the City of Waco, and then enjoyed a long career in Child Care Licensing, retiring in 2005. Even in recent travels, any time she passed a child care center, she checked out the playground or other parts of the center in her mind to be sure it met standards. Trudi was a true friend of youth, working quietly and often behind the scenes. This ranged from providing school supplies to incentives for good grades or reading books to giving emotional support to those at risk. And any youth ringing her doorbell to sell fundraising items had a sure sale, always after a short interview. On May 19, 1970, Trudi married Robert (Bob) Peak. Sara, their only child, was born 12½ years later. Trudi thrived in her role as a mother. In 2014 she added the job of Gigi, which quickly became her favorite position ever. It was so good that last May she and Bob moved from their home of 32 years near Eddy to Cibolo to be near Bailey (and her parents).
Trudi was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Linda Hayes, nephew Robert Edward Hayes, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her husband Bob, daughter Sara MacDonald and husband Scott and granddaughter Bailey Kay, sister-in-law Kelly Milner and husband Dennis and their children Nick, Becca and Katherine, niece Debbie Litt and nephews Earl Hayes and David Hayes, aunt Geri Knox and cousin Matt Knox.
Memorials may be made to the Methodist Children’s Home or the charity of your choice.
