Tommy Dodd, 63, originally from Waco, passed away Wednesday December 30, 2009 at his home in Mansfield, Texas. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, in Waco, Texas at Grace Gardens Funeral Home and Crematorium. Interment or placement of his ashes will be at a later date.
Tommy Dodd was born August 6, 1946 at Hillcrest Hospital to Harry and Hestha Dodd. He was a graduate of Richfield High School and attended TCU for one year. He was in the Air Force Reserves for 6 years. He was employed with Central Freight Lines, General Dynamics and IBM, in Waco before moving to the Dallas area. He married Vivie Smith in November of 1992, and she was the love of his life. He was employed by the Army and Air Force Exchange Services in Dallas, Texas as an IT Technician until a freak birth defect paralyzed him in February 2006. He had been more or less bed ridden since that time.
Tommy was an outstanding mechanic and liked to work on high performance vehicles with his friends. He could fix just about anything you handed to him. He loved life, and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Vivie Dodd of Mansfield, daughter Allison Dubose and husband Shane of Tomball, Texas, son Clint Smith of Dallas, Texas, brother Jerry Dodd of Waco, Texas, sister Kathy Holloway of Dallas, Texas, niece Catherine Sampels of Dallas, Texas, two grand nieces, Elizabeth and Rachael of Dallas, Texas and dog Max of Mansfield, Texas.
