Thomas Lynn Brown

February 22, 1958 — January 5, 2024

Thomas Lynn Brown was born February 22, 1958, in Houston, Texas and died January 5, 2024, in Waco, Texas.  His parents were Newman Lee Brown and JoAnna (Thomas) Brown.  He graduated from Scarborough High School in May 1976 and left for basic training with the Army the next week.  After his return to Houston from the Army, he worked at Southwestern Bell and Lumberman’s Investment Corp for several years each while also working with the Alief Community Volunteer Fire Dept.  He moved to Austin for a couple of years and worked at Lowes.   In the late 1980’s he moved to Dallas and worked at Tom Thumb as a cook while he went to school to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician, which he received in 1991.  This was the start of his 20 plus years in the ambulance service industry.  He worked at Dallas Ambulance Company and at Care Flite.  He moved to Canyon Lake when he retired and joined the Canyon Lake Volunteer Fire Dept for a couple of years.

He married Mary Beth Smith in 1998.

He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and college sports, especially UT football.  He loved baseball and his Texas Rangers and rooted for the Astros except when they played against the Rangers.

He is survived by sister, Lila Brown McKee of Waco; brother, Jeffrey Newman Brown of Katy; multiple nieces, nephews and cousins, and his long-time special friend Coya Brown.

He is predeceased by his wife, father, mother and sister, Vickie Jo Hilburn.

Tom suffered many health issues over the years.  He was friendly and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, especially if they shared his love of ambulances, fire trucks and trains.
