Terry Scott

July 17, 1941 — July 25, 2017

Terry McGraw Scott was born to Gene “Mac” McGraw and Velma Barrett McGraw. She grew up in Long Beach, California and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1959. During her first semester at Long Beach Community College, she met Lieutenant Richard Scott at First Baptist Church of Long Beach. Richard was stationed in Long Beach while he served in the United States Navy. After a short four-month engagement, they were married in February of 1960. They lived briefly in Bloomington, Indiana and Long Beach, California before settling in Crawford, Texas in 1968 where they raised their children. Richard and Terry Scott were married for 55 years and were active representatives of the Midway schools, Baylor University, and the Waco community as well as at the First Baptist Church of Woodway.

She moved to our Father’s House on July 25, 2017 and received the accolade of her Savior, Lord, and King who presented her with the Crown of Righteousness. We honor you, Terry Scott. And, we will never forget you, your legacy of faith, or your fun-loving and adventurous spirit.

Terry is survived by her three children: Kim Scott, Rick Scott (Heather) and Kelly Scott Neason (John). She has three granddaughters, McKenna Scott, Mia Scott, and Krystal Neason Dolan (Lee) and one great-grandson, Hayden Dolan. Her California family includes one brother, Don (Sue) McGraw and their daughters Dee Dee Coulombe (Ron) and Trina Daymude (Bill) and their families who live in Huntington Beach, California and extended family throughout California. Her Texas family is large including her sister-in-law, Anne Scott Grisham and nephew, Kenny Scott Grisham and niece, Kathy Grisham Thorman (Cliff), all of Crawford. She was very close to the Scott first cousins that reside in Waco: Robert and Diane Scott, Kay and Jerry Mallett, Scott and Linda Pitzer. There are many other cousins and friends who will miss her but will carry on her legacy of steadfast faith and love for others.

The memorial service for Terry Scott will be Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of Woodway. If you want to honor Terry’s memory please consider donating to the Terry M. Scott Endowed Scholarship Fund at Baylor University (www.baylor.edu/give) or to the G.I.F.T. class fund at the First Baptist Church of Woodway.
