Teresa Corley

September 15, 1948 — January 21, 2016

Teresa Corley passed away on January 21, 2016 at a local hospital with family at her side. A visitation will be held at Grace Gardens on Saturday, January 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and her funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 24, also at Grace Gardens. Teresa was born in Monticello, Arkansas on September 15, 1948, and actually lived in a log cabin the the woods for a time before her parents relocated permanently to Waco, Texas in 1950. Teresa was an extremely intelligent and creative person who loved learning. She was a very caring person and was deeply devoted to her family. She was talented in music and a wide range of artistic pursuits, which in her lifetime included pottery, weaving, needlework, and various crafts.

Teresa and Clifford Corley were married in 1968 and the couple was blessed with son Charles in 1973 and daughter Carrie in 1975.

Teresa's career took several turns over the years. After she graduated from Waco High School in 1966, she attended McLennan Community College and Baylor University. When college was delayed by relocation for Clifford's work, she trained as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked in various hospitals until she was able to return to Baylor and complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. After practicing as a Medical Technologist for a number of years, Teresa again enrolled at Baylor and earned a teaching degree, which launched her fondest career - as a high school science teacher. She taught at University High School where she became head of the science department until she retired in 2003. She found great satisfaction in sharing her love of science and learning with her students.

Teresa is survived by her husband Clifford Corley; her son Charles, his wife Robyn and their son Florian; her daughter Carries Smith, her husband Jeff and their children Morgan, Peyton, Preston, and Tucker; and her sister Janis Metoskie.
