Theodore (Ted) Joseph Messina, Jr. age 66, of Woodway passed away with his family at his side on August 26, 2012. Memorial Services will be 6PM Wednesday August 29, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Ted was born in Wilmington, DE on March 20, 1946. Ted attended Alexis I. DuPont High School in Wilmington, DE and later graduated from Cleburne High School in Cleburne, Texas. He then attended Texas Christian University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Government in 1968.
He moved to Waco, TX in 1969 where he met Elizabeth Diane Young. Ted and Diane were married on September 19, 1970. Ted was in the meat business for more than 50 years. Most recently, Ted worked for HEB at various locations for the last 17 years.

Ted enjoyed many interests. He was active in ASA softball both as a player and umpire for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, poker, cooking, and watching baseball and football. Ted enjoyed taking trips to the beach, visiting his siblings, and being with his grandchildren.

Ted was devoted to his family. He was a provider who supported his wife, children, and siblings and always put them first.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents Theodore J. Messina, Sr. and Tommie Francis Day Messina.

Ted is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane Messina; daughter, Jennifer Messina of Denver, CO; son, Joey Messina and wife Leigh of Dallas; grandchildren Mack Messina and Marshall Messina; five siblings; sisters, Gloria Whitehead and husband Merrill of Waco and Wimberly, TX , Rebecca Weidemann and husband Rick of Mansfield, TX, and Veronica Young of Benbrook, TX; brothers, Thomas Messina and wife Charlotte of Taos, NM, Vincent Messina and wife Margaret of Granbury, TX. Ted is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews, one great niece.

The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation for the loving care given to Ted by his many medical teams at Central Texas Oncology, Providence Hospital, and Providence Hospice.
