On the evening of July 17, 2015 Susan Charlene Bishop Wehmeyer ran to the arms of Jesus at the age of 38 at the Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be 11:30 Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at First Baptist Church Woodway. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 Monday, July 20th at First Baptist Church Woodway. Interment and graveside services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 22nd at Waresville Cemetery in Utopia, Texas, followed by a reception at the Utopia Texas Church of Christ.
Susan "Susie" fought a long and very difficult battle with illness. She was born September 10, 1976 in Amarillo, Texas to Charles and Patty Bishop. She graduated from Utopia High School in 1995 as Salutatorian. During her high school career, she enjoyed sports and won first place at State in UIL Headline Writing. She was a very talented writer and creative artist, having a gift of organizational skills to put together events, decor, and crafts. She will be remembered for her servant heart and encouraging, joy-filled spirit through Jesus and her missional lifestyle. She loved working with children in need with Camp of the Hills, Small Steps Nurturing Center, and counseling new mothers at Care Net.
Susan married Dr. Van Alan Wehmeyer December 18, 1999 at a beautiful lakeside setting in College Station, Texas. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Texas A & M in 1999 and her Master's Degree from the UT Southwestern in Public Health in 2008. She was a very devoted wife and mother.
She will be missed greatly by her husband, Dr. Van Wehmeyer, and her three children, Cade Alan Wehmeyer age 10, Zane Charles Wehmeyer age 8, and Avi Ruth Wehmeyer age 6 of McGregor, Texas. She is survived also by her sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Gil Pipkin and their children Daniel, Carly and Elise of Houston, along with her parents Charles and Patty Bishop of Utopia, Texas, Amy and Tye Studhalter, DeMerle and Dave Giordano and children Cameron, Chris and Katie, and Gus and Elizabeth Wehmeyer and their children Adan and Kateryn of Madisonville. Susan also leaves behind countless treasured friends and family.
