Susan Clark

Susan Clark passed away April 25, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White hospital in Temple. Services will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 10 am at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Brittain officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Sunday, April 30th from 6 pm to 8 pm at Grace Gardens.

Susan was born in Waco on June 11, 1948 to father Jack Young and mother Cora Marie Crye. She lived most of her childhood in Teague, TX and graduated from Teague High School. She then went on to attend Navarro Junior College and graduated in 1968. On August 25, 1972, she married Neil Davidson Clark, Jr. from Dawson, TX. They had one child, Amy Lynn Clark in 1975. Susan had a very strong work ethic throughout her life. In the 1980's, she worked as a secretary in the Home Economics Dept. at Baylor University. While working full time there and managing a family at home, she continued to pursue her education. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University in December of 1985. In 1993, Susan began working in the payroll department at Midway ISD. She enjoyed her position there tremendously and loved the people she worked with every day. She retired from Midway after 23 years of service in December 2016. Susan loved people. One of her greatest joys in life was visiting with others and getting to know them. She enjoyed socializing with her long time friends from church and others in her community. She loved to read, watch her favorite show NClS, and watch sports. Her greatest passion was her family. She spent the last few years of her life traveling across Texas watching her grandchildren play volleyball, baseball, basketball and run track, and loved every minute of it. She was a true cheerleader, supporter and biggest fan.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Marie Young, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Neil and Jane Clark. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Neil D. Clark, Jr., her daughter, Amy Clark Reed, her son-in-law, Jim Bob Reed, her grandchildren, Lauren and Cole Meade, Ashley Meade, Heather Reed and Brady Reed, her sister-in-law, Carol Clark, and one first cousin Ott Young from Centerville, TX.

The pallbearers will be George Eskew, James Barron, Steve Wilcox, Phillip Powell, Ron Dotson, and Brady Reed. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Baylor Scott & White Temple SICU for their excellent care, love and support that they provided Susan and her family during her hospitalization there.
