Stephen Schwarting, of Waco, passed away on February 11, 2022. A burial service will be at Oakwood Cemetery on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 10 AM. All are welcome.
Stephen was born on August 1, 1958 in Waco to William and Wilma Schwarting. He spent much of his youth riding motorcycles and playing drums, the first of many hobbies he would come to master during his lifetime.
After graduating from the University of Texas, Stephen followed in his father’s footsteps working as a manager at Piccadilly Cafeteria. His career took him to Florida where he lived for 2 years before welcoming a daughter, Shannon, with his former wife, Marsha Marlow. Not long after, he moved back to Waco where he continued to follow his passion for food, starting his own catering business.
While his love for cooking continued, he found a new calling for health and fitness, serving as a personal trainer and nutrition counselor at WRS Athletic Club for over 20 years.
He also loved University of Texas football with unmatched enthusiasm. Some of his fondest memories in life were those attending the games with his daughter, who he adored.
Anyone who knew Stephen knew he was a knowledge-seeker at heart and lover of people, who was always willing to give his time to help with any problem, no matter how big or small. He had a strong faith and whenever faced with difficulty, he would always say to “look upwards” for the answers. He truly believed in the power of positive thinking, something made easier by his witty sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his friends and loved ones.
Stephen is survived by his daughter, Shannon Schwarting, and her husband, Scott Chesak. He is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Schwarting, his father, William Schwarting, and his brother, William Schwarting Jr.
