Shirley Mae (Winders) Minnie

Shirley M. Minnie, 85, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Ascension Senior Living in Waco, TX.

She was born on February 14, 1938, in Hardin County, IL, the daughter of John and Treva (McDowell) Winders. She married Larry J. Minnie on December 30, 1961, at First General Baptist Church in East Alton, IL, and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2013.

Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church in Bethalto. She had retired from Millers First Insurance Co. where she had worked as a Supervisor in the Accounts Receivable Department.

Shirley is survived by her three children and their spouses, Linda Rynearson of Hewitt, Texas, Jeffrey Minnie and Teresa Lahr of Brighton, Illinois, and David and Cindy Minnie of East Troy, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Larry; she is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, John Winders, Charles Winders, and Ethel Winders; and a son-in-law, Steve Rynearson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, Illinois. Services will be on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
