Shirley Donnerstag, 62, of Hewitt passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 after a long battle with ALS. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, January 23 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Shirley was born October 26, 1952 to Clovis and Louise Hunter in Corsicana. She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1971 and later began her career in sales. After many years of working at Thomas Nelson Word, Inc., TXU, and Atmos Energy, Shirley was forced to retire due to the progression of her illness. She was a great sales person as well as a gifted singer. She often shared her love for music with her children and grandchildren. She had two sons who she loved very much. In 1998, Shirley married Bernie Donnerstag. They were members of the Hewitt Community Church. Shirley will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and Nana. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister-in-law, Laurill Hunter.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Bernie Donnerstag; children, Byron Albrecht and wife, Sabrina, Andrew Albrecht, Jill Auty and husband, Jeff, Brad Donnerstag and wife, Rebecca, and Gabirelle Chadwick and husband, Jordan; sisters, Andrea Richards and husband, L.D., Clowie Lewis and husband, Raylon; and brother, Larry Hunter and wife, Patricia; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
