Sherrian Diane (Grusendorf) Bender

Sherrian Diane Gruesndorf Bender, 81, of Hewitt, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 19, 2023.  A Visitation with the family will be 1pm, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with a Memorial Service following at 2pm with Mark Newton officiating.

Sherrian was born September 27, 1941 in Waco, Texas to Elaine (Chapman) and Marvin Gruesendorf.  She grew up with her sister in Hewitt, Texas on her family farm.  She was a 1959 graduate from Midway High School where she was a talented basketball player.  This is where her lifelong love of sports began.  She was a faithful fan of the Baylor Bears.  She loved the outdoors, and many outdoor activities, she was a skilled hunter, teaching her children to shoot.

Sherry had many careers that she loved, ultimately retiring from Scholastic Book Fairs.  Sherry had three sons whom she adored and was very proud of.  She married Benny Bender in 1989 and gained three more children to love and cherish.  In retirement, Benny and Sherry enjoyed traveling across the globe, mainly to visit grandchildren.  She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Chilton.

Sherry loved her church, her family, and hunting.  She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.

She is preceded in death by her son, Randy Bender.

Left to Cherish her memories, her husband, Benny; sons, Bruce Thompson, Charles Thompson and wife Deanna, Paul Thompson; Albert Bender; daughter, Leah Kinard and husband Truett; grandchildren, Hudson, Makenzie, Mason, Adalyn, Whitney and husband Joseph, Kasey, Randal; great grandchildren, Avery and Rylee, Tatum; nephew, T.J. Johnson; nieces, Kim Alumbaugh, Debbie Johnston; and many church friends.
