Sheron Richardson

June 8, 1943 — September 26, 2015

Sheron Ann Stough Richardson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 26, 2015. She was born on June 8, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama to Talmage Eugene "Gene" Stough and Willie Mae Young Stough. As the daughter of a career Air Force sergeant, she lived in many places including the Azores where she learned to speak Portuguese as a teenager. She often said she made friends easily because she attended 16 schools in 12 years, but we believe her gentle spirit and giving heart are not something she learned, but simply who she was! Her last two years of high school were in Waco, Texas where she met her soul mate, Henry Reginald "Reggie" Richardson, Jr., and on January 25, 1963, the two were married.
Sheron wore many hats, including queen of the Red Hat Society Roadrunners! She was a legal secretary, a writer (writing with writer's liberty from her personal experiences and poetry from her heart), professional caterer, secretary for the city of Round Rock where she ran the Palm House Museum, Judge's administrative assistant for child support court, Past Worthy Matron of Austin Chapter #304 Order of the Eastern Star, and Past Mother Advisor of Austin Assembly #5 Rainbow Girls. She was also a girl scout leader and a volunteer with the boy scouts. She was passionate about helping young people grow and learn. She taught cake decorating and crocheting at Austin Community College, and at one time she even owned and operated a small shop in Austin named "Trash and Treasures" where one man's trash is another man's treasure! She attended St. Edward's University, but elected to stay home with her children because she believed it was her duty to be a mother first. There are actually too many hats to mention, but the hats she wore with the most pride were that of Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful friend to everyone she met.
Sheron loved her church and truly loved all God's people. It is immeasurable the number of people that this precious lady touched. She was always opening her home and heart to others. She loved to throw parties and feed people. She loved to travel and see new places, especially with her friends. Sharing these experiences with others was a great joy in her life, perhaps because she developed a wander lust as the child of a service man. However, her heart was always at home with Reggie, wherever they may be. She also thrived on watching her children and grandchildren grow, and her life was complete anytime family was together, and with Sheron, everyone is family! She will be remembered fondly with a bow in her hair and a smile upon her face.
Sheron's legacy will live on in her loving husband (Reggie Richardson of Waco), her daughter (Debra Lynn Henderson of Waco), her son and daughter-in-law (Reginald Eugene "Gene" Richardson and Lorraine "Lori" Richardson of Arlington, Texas), her four granddaughters (Dallas Anne Henderson, Gracie Ruth Henderson, Alyssa Danielle Richardson, and Kristen Lynn Richardson), and by a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends (actually sisters and brothers) too great to mention. For those who knew her, you knew that to Sheron everyone was family and needed to be loved and fed!
Sheron's most precious gift was giving to others. She often just knew what was needed and would do it or offer it without being asked and expecting nothing in return, whether it was a meal, a blanket she had crocheted, or even slipping someone a twenty "just in case." She loved flowers, sunsets, birds (especially hummingbirds), and all of God's creatures. However, she believed that flowers are for the living. She loved having them while she was here, but now in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Midway ISD Hunger Free Program, 13885 Woodway Dr, Waco, TX 76712. We know that Sheron would be very pleased to continue to feed those who are hungry.
Sheron did not care for funerals. She preferred a "celebration of the person's life", so in keeping with her wishes, there will be a memorial service to celebrate her life on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Central Presbyterian Church located at 9191 Woodway Dr., Waco, TX 76712 followed by a luncheon. All are welcome to attend and enjoy the food and fellowship as Sheron would have wanted.
