Sherman was born January 6, 1922 to Milus and Ethel Counts in Fort Worth, Texas. He served in the Army Air Force in Labrador during WWII. He married Glonda Marie Claiborne on December 22, 1946. He graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 43 years. He has been an ordained deacon since 1956. He served in various Baptist churches and has been a member of First Baptist Woodway for 26 years.
He is survived by Glonda, his wife of 63 years, daughter Montra Weaver and her husband Alan; three grandchildren Courtney Masters and her husband K.C., Alyssa and Alex; two sisters his twin Sarah McLellan and Roberta Hendrix and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jesus Christ was central in Sherman’s life and he served his Lord faithfully. Also important to him was spending time with family at home or on vacation. Sherman was admired and respected by those who knew him and he encouraged many with his quiet and gentle spirit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the ministries of First Baptist Woodway.
