Shelba Jean Wilson, affectionately known as "Nana," born on August 17, 1938, in Frosa, Texas, departed this earthly realm on January 28, 2025, in Hewitt, Texas. A beacon of kindness and warmth in the lives she touched, Shelba legacy is woven through exceptional contributions as devoted librarian at Waco Christian School and Cedar Ridge Elementary, nurturing generations with knowledge and a love for learning.
Shelba was not only a revered educator but also a masterful curator of memorable family experiences, embracing her roles with utmost devotion. She was a graduate of Coolidge High School, and her passion for people was evident in her generous hospitality, welcoming many into her home with open arms and a radiant smile. Her personality, warm and outgoing, created bonds that transcended mere acquaintances; she cherished friendships and fostered community wherever she went.
A true creative spirit, Shelba immersed herself in hobbies that brought joy to her and those around her. Her love for crafts and scrapbooking made her the heart of creativity at Christian Summer Camp for an astounding fifty years, imparting her passion for art to others. Christmas was particularly close to her heart, as she delighted in crafting a winter wonderland and sowing cherished memories into every ornament she lovingly made for her grandchildren.
Above all, Shelba’s proudest accomplishments were her family, who stood firmly by her side throughout her life. She is survived by her two sons: Gary Wilson and his wife Cheryl from Nashville, and Todd Wilson along with his wife Regina from Austin. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Amy Sunday and her husband Trey of Tulsa, OK; Scott Willson and his wife Emily Hughes of New York, NY; Rusty Wilson of Orlando, FL; and Race Wilson of Austin, TX. She also cherished her great-granddaughter, Eleanor Sunday of Tulsa, OK. Shelba is dearly remembered by her brother-in-law Albert Wilson and his wife Gayle, multiple nephews, and a wealth of friends and church family who were fortunate to know her loving spirit.
In her passing, Shelba reunites with her beloved husband, Harold, who has awaited her embrace; her parents Sollon and Francelle Erwin; her brother Kenneth Erwin; her sister Linda Erwin; her sister-in-law Treon Erwin; and her sister-in-law LaVona Jones and her husband Ardis. Their memories continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she left behind.
