Sam Hurst

Sam E. Hurst age 64, of Lorena passed away Monday August 29, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Funeral Mass will be 10AM Friday September 2, 2011 at St. Jerome Catholic Church with Father Raj officiating. The Recitation of the Rosary will be 6:30 PM Thursday September 1, 2011 with a Visitation to follow from 7PM to 8:30PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Sam was born December 21, 1946 in Waco, Texas to Arvie E. and Ora E. Hurst. He graduated from Lorena High School in 1965. He moved back to Lorena in 1987, where he resided at time of death. He celebrated 40 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Janice (Pustejovsky), whom he loved and adored. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. He shared special memories coaching Little League, playing sports and golfing with his brothers.

He was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. He belonged to Knights of Columbus Council #13005. He shared special memories playing softball tournaments in Austin with Knights of Columbus Council #2305. We extend a special thanks to both councils and the St. Jerome community for their prayers and caring during his illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arvie and Ora.

Sam is survived by his wife Janice; a son Jeff A. Hurst; two daughters Laura D. Benton and Sondra J. Boleman; two brothers Don E. and James E. Hurst; a sister Betty E. Jones; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
