Sadie Jo Black, age 80, of Waco passed away December 5, 2010. The funeral service will be held at 1PM Wednesday December 8, 2010, at Truett Seminary Chapel, Baylor University. Interment will follow in Teague, TX at the Greenwood Cemetery. The body will be in-state at Truett Seminary from 8 A.M. to 12 P.M. prior to the service. Visitation will be at Grace Gardens Funeral Home 5 to 7PM Tuesday December 7, 2010.
Sadie Jo Black was born on May 6, 1930, in Teague, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. W. Dial Black, Sr.; a brother, W. Dial Black Jr.; and sister-in-law, Betty Black. Survivors include cousins and friends.
Her professional life included thirty-five years at Baylor University as a Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences. Also, she was an Assistant Dietitian at Providence Hospital, Waco, and a Home Economics Teacher at Mexia High School in Mexia, Texas.
Organizational affiliations included Past-President of Mexia Business and Professional Women’s Club, Mexia, Texas; Past-President of Waco’s American Association of University Women and Past-President of Trends AAUW. During the years, she worked with church youth groups and was a choir member.
Sadie Jo Black graduated from Teague High School, Baylor University, and Colorado State University. Post Graduate work was done at Texas Women’s University and Southern Methodist University.
