Ruth Jackson-Hall, 78, of Woodway, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, July 24th, 2014. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 28th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Kay Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Florence Cemetery, Florence Texas. Visitation with the family will be 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, July 27th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr.
Ruth was born May 27, 1936 to John and Nettie Cook in Lucedale, MS. Spending her early life in MS, Ruth moved to Killeen her final year of high school. Following her graduation, she married Charles Edwin Jackson, and the couple settled in the Central Texas area. To their union five children were born. Charles passed at an early age, which left Ruth to care for her children. She was a caring mother, and was full of life. Ruth had a kind heart and big smile. She also enjoyed caring for her flowers, crafting and sewing. She loved to square dance and play dominoes and cards with her friends, but Ruth’s biggest passion was cooking for her family and friends. Later in life Ruth married James Hall in 2001. She enjoyed her years with the Hall family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edwin Jackson; parents, John F and Nettie Cook; siblings, Faye Greene, Delmer Lee Cook, Evelyn Thomas, and Dorothy Brown; and second husband, James Hall.
Ruth is survived by her siblings, Imogene Plessala, Darrell Jackson and wife, Gailya, Wendell (Bill) Jackson and wife, Glenda, JoAnne Batten and husband, David, and Frank Brown; children, Curtis Stanley Jackson and wife, Maria, of Lockhart, Wendell Lee Jackson of Waco, Phillip Edwin Jackson of Waco, Melissa Ruth Wilson and husband, Richard, of Huntsville, AL, and Wanda Faye Jackson and partner, Janice Gregory, of Hewitt; grandchildren, Curtis Stanley Jackson, Jr. and wife, Kelly, Matthew Reyna Jackson, Christopher Reyna Jackson, Liesl Richardson Hoover and husband, Randy, Kendall Lee Jackson, Christopher Blake Jackson, Nicole Jackson Hogan, and husband, Ben, Ashley Virginia Jackson, Scott Richard Wilson, Charles Coleman Wilson, and Mitchell Lane Wilson; great-grandchildren, Baker Stanley Jackson, Brady Joe Jackson, Taylor Hoover, Adam Hoover, Katy Hoover, Landon Hoover, and Wesley Phillip Hogan; step-children, Rodney Gillen-Hall and wife, Edye, Cindy Coates and husband, Eddie, Steve Hall and wife, Cheryl, Clayton Hall and wife, Charlene, Cathy Woods and husband, Jody, Janna Short and husband, Scott, and Scott Hall and wife, Audra; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
