Ruth Frances (Burge) Hendley, 88, of Hewitt passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church, 9301 Panther Way with Rev. Stephen Rynearson officiating with a burial at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Friday at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.
Ruth was born April 7, 1927 to Gus and Annie (Adler) Scheu and raised on the family farm in Malone. Ruth lived in the Hewitt area and worked part-time for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. while rearing her children. In 1983, Ruth moved to Tyler and worked for East Texas Medical Center Hospital. Ruth retired in 1991 after the death of her husband, L.T. Hendley, and moved back to the Hewitt area. Ruth was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a member of LWML and Braille Workers of America which she greatly enjoyed.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Erwin Scheu; and sister, Mildred Fullerton.
Ruth is survived by her children, Susan Byerley and husband, Bill; Debbie McCollum and husband, David Chapman; Audie Williams and husband, Randy; as well as step-daughter, Loyalann Hidalgo and husband, John. She is also survived by grandchildren, Annie and Sarah Byerley, Shelby and Rae McCollum, Ryan Rasberry and wife Kim, Rhett Williams and Kourtney Kizer, Ashton Williams; as well as step-grandchildren Chad Hidalgo and wife, Tammera; and Leslie Miller and husband, Huey; several great-grandchildren including the most recent addition, Logan Aubrey Rasberry. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Whitehead and husband, M.J.; and brother-in-law, Mack Fullerton.
Memorial may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or Providence Hospice.
