In Loving Memory of Rosario S. Garcia
October 10, 1951 – November 21, 2024
Rosario S. Garcia, known affectionately as “Rosa” or “Bella”, passed away unexpectedly in her home in Hewitt, Texas. She was 73 years young.
Born in Puerto Rico, to Gloria & Antonio, Rosa was the youngest of four siblings: Jorge, Maria, and Carlos. Rosa was a sharp witted & determined woman who graduated college with a degree in social work. After college, Rosa spent time modeling and entered & won beauty pageants in Puerto Rico.
Rosa proudly served in the United States Army for ten years. Rosa’s reflections of her travels around the world are well known. She was even able to take her mother, Gloria on many travels! After her honorable discharge, Rosa planted roots in Killeen, Texas on land shared with mother Gloria and sister Maria (with husband Hector). Although her brothers, Jorge (with wife Sonia) and Carlos lived out of state, they visited often. As such, the land became a family sanctuary and a testament of love for family togetherness.
Rosa, the ever devoted mother, even moved to Waco to remain close to Monica & Jorge. She cherished every moment of birthdays, holidays, school activities, family gatherings, and the random Tuesday. Rosa never met a stranger and created connections at the local places in her neighborhood. She was known as “Miss Rosa” and “the beautiful lady with the pink hair.” Her warmth and generosity touched everyone around her, creating a legacy of love and devotion that will live on in her family.
Rosa was preceded in death by her father, Antonio, mother, Gloria; her fiancé: Shelvy; her best friend, Nancy; and her loyal beloved rescue dog, Rusty. Despite the losses, Rosa’s life was filled with love and laughter with her two children, Monica and Jorge. Rosa affectionately called her son in law, Jason, her “bonus son” & daughter in law Amanda “generous & kind.” Rosa was a proud grandmother of 7: Reyna, Bryan, Mia, Enrique, Jesse, Nicholas, and Elizabeth and a proud aunt of countless nieces and nephews.
Rosa’s memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a family bound together by her enduring love and a life story that continues to inspire.
May she rest in eternal peace.
