Romeo Tanase

March 1, 1957 — May 22, 2022

Romeo Tanase, 65, of Axtell, passed away, on May 22, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his family. Over the past two years he fought a brave battle with melanoma cancer.

Romeo, better known as “Romică” by family and friends, was born in Galati, Romania on March 1st 1957 to Alexandra and Costica Tanase.  Romeo grew up in Romania where he met and married his loving wife, Minodora Tanase on September 29th 1979.  They raised five children together,  Romeo “Vali”, Alina, Ramona, Corina, and Lavinia. In 1985, Romeo courageously fled Communist Romania and came to America to seek a better life for his family. He took much pride in his profession as a welder.  He worked full-time while also constructing and selling homes for his family.  Romeo had tremendous work ethic and was an incredible handyman, a true Jack of All Trades.  There wasn’t anything he could not build or fix. In his leisure time he liked to fish, loved to sing, and enjoyed playing his accordion.  He also enjoyed farming, was an avid gardener, and got great satisfaction tending to his sheep. He was a man of God and always sought to do right by all.

He is survived by his loving family; wife; Minodora Tanase ; Son; Romeo Valentin Tanase and wife Laura Tanase; Daughters; Alina Tanase, Ramona Tanasa, Corina Tanasa, Lavinia Tanasa. Grandchildren; Alexa Tanase, Evan Tanase, Natalie Tanase; 5 siblings; Elena, Geta, Tanta, Anica, and Tinca; along with their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
