Rolland (Bobe) Laxson, age 62 of Lorena, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday January 1, 2011, at a local hospital with his family by his side. Funeral Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm, Monday January 3, 2011 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
Rolland was born on April 14, 1948 in Big Spring, Texas to A.W. (Buster) and Dorothy Laxson. His family moved to Sulphur, Louisiana where he lived until joining the Navy in 1966. He proudly served on the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. After completing his tour of duty he moved to Gatesville, Texas where he met and married the love of his life Patty Moore in 1971. He worked for General Tire and Rubber for fifteen years. Currently he was employed by Alcoa Fasteners. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Lorena. His passion in life was spending time with his granddaughters.
Those that are left behind to treasure the joy with which he touched their lives are his wife Patty of 39 years; two daughters Jana Reed of Lorena and Jeanie Vinson and her husband Jay of Katy, Texas; two granddaughters Alexandria and Olivia; a brother Dwayne Laxson and his wife Linda of Sulphur, Louisiana and niece Bridget Thomas also of Sulphur, Louisiana and his mother in law Nell Moore of Gatesville, Texas, and many other beloved friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Jay Vinson, Joe Pat Rainer, Jerry Cureton, Jim Humphrey, Randy Moore and Calvin Richards.
