Roger Boddy

LTC Roger “Mike” Boddy, 72, of Hewitt, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10am, Saturday, September 15th at the Hewitt VFW Post 6008, 725 Sun Valley blvd., Hewitt, Texas.
Mike was born August 24, 1940 in Highland Park, MI. to R.D. and Mildred Boddy.
For 20 years of active duty he proudly served in the United States Air Force retiring as a TSgt. Vietnam Service in 1978. After retiring Mike went to work for the VA Hospital and spent 30 years as a Air Conditioning Engineer until retiring in 2008.
Mike also served his country by volunteering in the Texas State Guard for 19 years as a Commanding Officer of the Waco Battalion, retiring in 2002 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Mike was elected to serve as Post Commander of the VFW Post 6008 in Hewitt, Texas. He also served as District 29 Commander of the same VFW instructing and serving the many post in the community. Mike was so passionate about Veterans that he also served as Commander of the American Legion in McGregor, Texas. He was a proud Life Member of many veterans organizations including VFW, American Legion and D.A.V. to name a few.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, son Ricky Boddy, and brother Richard Boddy.
His survivors include his devoted and loving wife Connie Boddy, son Robert Boddy and daughter Mary Ann. He is also survived by his stepson Eugene Hendon and wife Casey of Robinson, stepdaughter Bridget Harris of Gholson, brother Robert Boddy and his favorite Aunt Mary Ann as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also the proud Grandfather of 7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge Providence Hospice and a Special Thanks to Angels Becky and Susan.
Mike was a very loving and caring man that will be missed by all that knew him. “GRUMPS” we love you and will miss you very much.
