Biography

Rod Lee Smith , 66, passed away October 11, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 with Pastor Jacqueline Taylor officiating.

Rod Lee Smith was born on Oct. 6, 1950 to the parents of T.V. Smith and John Ella Smith Shaw of Waco, Texas.

Rod graduated from A.J. Moore High School in 1969. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master's of Science in criminology from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.

Rod was married to Jackie Shelton Smith. They were married December 29, 1989 and were married for 27 years.

Rod worked for the Texas Department of Paroles for more than 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, caring for his horses and watching sports.

Rod is survived by his wife, Jackie; son, Rod Smith Jr.; two daughters, Ali Smith, Ta Mala Drake-Smith; two brothers, T.V. Smith, Jr. and his wife Doris of Allen , TX, Stanley Ray Smith of Austin, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents and Step-father, Winifred H. Shaw; one sister, Josephine Cocker; and one brother, Hubert Smith.
