Robert Patrick (Bob) Ryan, 75, of Woodway died at his home on Thursday, July 30, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in West Lafayette, Indiana. The only son of Robert and Alita Ryan, he was educated at Catholic schools in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bob furthered his education at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
After owning his own business in Waco for several years, Bob retired as an abstractor from Public Records Corporation of Austin in 2013. Bob enjoyed his final years traveling, attending Baylor sporting events, playing golf (he netted six holes-in-one), spending time with his family, and being an integral part of his church. Bob was an usher, Eucharistic Minister, and founding member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church.
Bob was also dedicated to bettering his community by serving as a volunteer for numerous church outreach groups; his favorite being the food pantry. He also assisted as a volunteer Bingo caller at Quality Care Nursing Home, served as an advocate for the Waco Family Abuse Center, worked as an award-winning organizer at Walk for Life, and dedicated his time and efforts to other Waco-area social awareness organizations.
He leaves behind his wife of 53-years, the former Mariann Browning; his son Patrick of Austin; daughter Katie, along with her husband Jack and family, of Copperas Cove and Rogers; and his special sister-in-law and brother-in-law and their family. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Rita, and his beloved aunt Genevieve.
A 10:00 a.m. recitation of the Holy Rosary, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015, at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Jerome’s Activity Center building fund.
On behalf of Bob, the Ryan’s would like to thank their family and friends, as well as Father Raj, the staff, and parishioners of St. Jerome Catholic Church. Special gratitude also goes to Texas Oncology, Providence Homecare and Hospice team members, and Dr. Karl Trippe and his extraordinary staff. Your care, love, and respect will always be cherished.
As Bob was so fond of saying, “He who eats the fastest gets the most!” So, sit around the table with those you love, and enjoy.
