Robert Wayne Hoffmann

September 9, 1954 — February 17, 2025

Valley Mills, Texas

Robert Wayne Hoffmann went home to heaven on Monday, February 17, 2025. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Crawford with Pastor Bill Metting officiating. Visitation with the family will be in the Sanctuary prior to the service, beginning at 10:00. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul Lutheran Memorial Park.

Robert was born on September 9, 1954, to the late Willie and Ann (Piehl) Hoffmann in Refugio, Texas. He graduated from Gregory-Portland High School in Portland, Texas. Robert was a Fighting Texas Aggie, Class of 1978 with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. While at Texas A&M he met the love of his life, his sweetie, Beverly (Hoppe) Hoffmann and they shared a wonderful 48 years together.

Robert worked in his field of engineering in Houston, Victoria, and Waco. He finished his career as the owner of Byford Machine-Tool in Valley Mills, Texas. He retired after 29 amazing years. His employees were always his top priority. Their livelihoods were a responsibility that he carried gladly. Robert was also a talented woodworker and carpenter. He built a home for his family and his handiwork is seen in every piece of wood. Robert was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed raising cattle on the ranch. Each time he and Beverly moved during their life, Robert planted a vegetable garden and a rose garden. He was always up for a game of forty-two dominoes. His family was his life’s joy. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish and hunt and his daughter woodworking. Robert was thrilled when his grandchildren surpassed his skill in the game of forty-two. He was a humble servant of the Lord and would always do the right thing even when it was hard.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Brett Alexander Hoffmann.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter Robbie Birch and husband Erich; grandchildren Kai and Erich Birch, all of College Station. He is also survived by his two brothers Fred Hoffmann and wife Masha of Corpus Christi and Harold Hoffmann of Cuero; nephew Geoffrey Hoffmann; great-nephew Erich Hennings, great-nieces Rebecca Hoffmann and Abigal Hoffmann.

The family would like to give special thanks to Crawford EMS, the team of doctors and nurses at Ascension Providence, and an incredibly special thank you to the entire staff of Coryell Health RehabLiving and Memorial Hospital.

For those desiring, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Crawford EMS, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Crawford or St. Paul Lutheran Memorial Park.
