Robert S. Hatfield, age 62, of Valley Mills, Texas passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 30, 2018. Robert, A.K.A. Bob, was born April 11, 1955, in Williamson, West Virginia, and is the son of the late Alvin and Donna Hatfield.
Bob was a decorated American hero and dedicated his life to the United States military. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and served 20 years throughout the world in Army Logistics, earning the rank of Master Sergeant, First Sergeant, Ret. He also spent 18 years working in various assignments in the U.S. Government as a civilian as a Logistic Manager in the Department of the Army at the Republic of Korea, and a Deputy Director at the Navy Depot at Norfolk, VA; as well as, a postal worker in West Virginia. He received numerous Achievement Medals and ribbons throughout his military and civilian career; to include, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Superior Civilian Service Award, and the Defense Distinguished Service Award Medal.
Bob provided essential logistics support to both the US Army and US Navy while in the service and during his retirement. During his civilian service career, his management and in-depth knowledge excelled at organizing and tracking complex projects. His unwavering integrity and exemplary leadership skills inspired all.
A loving father and devoted husband, Bob is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Hyon; he has five children, his oldest son, who serves in the Army, CW3 Robert A. Hatfield; his second oldest son, who serves in the Air Force, Captain John S. Hatfield, and his three daughters, Heather M. Montoya, Valerie R. Janis, and his youngest, Donna S. Hatfield. He also has thirteen grandchildren: Paige, Melina, Joseline, Brandon, Andru, Arissa, Arianna, Christian, Jawendjige, Enabandaug, Wanakiwin, Tristan and Abram. He also had one great- Granddaughter, Evelyn. His surviving sisters, Mary Shriner, Elinda Hatfield and a brother Roger Hatfield.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
