R.L. James, age 89 of Waco passed away Monday October 25, 2010 at a local hospital with his family by his side. Memorial Services will be at 2PM Saturday October 30, 2010 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
R.L. was born June 21, 1921 in Odds, Texas. He served as a MP in the US Army during WWII. He worked at Hammond Industries during the 1950’s and 60’s as a line supervisor. He was a butcher at West and A&P Supermarkets in Bellmead, Texas. R.L. was a man that was kind to animals and loved his little dog DJ. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed dancing at the Sul Ross Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doctor Daniel James and Elise Wolf James; three brothers Hershel, Dillard, C.B.; and two sisters Viola and Lyda.
R.L. and Leona Helen (Bobbie) were wedded for almost 63 years. They have one daughter Adelia Williams. R.L. and Bobbie also considered Kay Fox Campbell, Dennis & Kenny Holder, and Kevin Williams as their children. He was loved by several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to Providence Hospice and the nurses on the Sunday night shift. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Providence Hospice.
