Richard Bradley Barrett, 70, of Waco, was welcomed into the gates of heaven on Thursday, October 6, 2022. A visitation with the family will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Brad was born November 12, 1951 to Dallas and Patricia Barrett in Wichita, Kansas, the oldest of four children. Brad grew up and attended school in Wichita, Kansas. He was a graduate of Wichita State University. Brad enjoyed a career in pro audio, which fit well with his love of music. This career enabled him to travel and meet many musicians. His love for people and his love of music dovetailed together and made him very successful.
During high school and college he was a member of a band, The Bishops, who traveled across the mid and south west to perform. Later, he joined The Board of Regents, and they played locally. Brad instilled a love of music in his only daughter, taking her to Chicago concerts as a young child.
In 1968, he met the love of his life, Bertagene Benson. The couple shared more than fifty years of marriage and memories. They moved to Texas to be near their daughter and her family and in retirement they enjoyed boating, traveling, cruising, hosting family and friends. Brad never met a stranger; his curiosity and love of life and people made him a fun person to be around. Known as the life of the party, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, Bert; adored daughter, K. Brooke Malthesen and husband Nolan; cherished grandchildren, Cole and “Miss” Ellie; siblings, Crystal Mills, Brian Barrett and wife Rose, Valarie Long and husband Kent; and many nieces and nephews.
