Rev. Harold Carlisle

Rev. Harold Goodwin Carlisle, 87, of Moody, went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 at 1 p.m.. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home .

Harold was born on January 29, 1929 in Temple, Texas, the son of Herbert and Laney Carlisle. He gave his life to the Lord as a young boy and was called to minister the Gospel of Christ at the age of 17. He attended Bethany Peniel College in Oklahoma where he played men's softball, served as President of the Gospel Team and also as the Student Director of Religious Activities. He graduated with a degree in Theology. Over the course of his ministry, he pastored 14 churches and served 2 years in the evangelistic field. Harold enjoyed gardening, reading, playing horseshoes and his harmonica. You would frequently find him playing tunes for his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan, he seldom missed a Baylor, Spurs, or Cowboys game and may have been known to let church out a little early when the Cowboys were in the Super Bowl. Harold had a wonderfully, outgoing personality and he never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation anywhere.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters; Laverne Wilson, Maxine Jennings, his beloved wife of 50 years,; Nadine (Murray) Carlisle.

He is survived by his 2nd wife of 16 years; Shirley ( Bargo) Carlisle, four sisters; Leta Hillery and husband Lee, Doris Harrison and husband Bob, Margaret Sill and husband Milton, Evelyn Dieter and husband Fred, son; Stephen and wife Tisha; daughters; Dorcas McAdams and husband Randy, Rachel Parks and husband Shannon, Step -daughters; Kay Bargo, Bertha Hernandez, step-son; Mike Bargo. 13 grandchildren, Brandy Gutierrez, Derek McAdams, Justin McAdams, Cheyenne Brunson, Cierra Flynn, Kaitlyn Weikel, Madisyn Shear, Chelsea Miller, Nanette Scott, Amy Guevera, Kristopher Bargo, Ross Bargo and John Bargo, 12 great grandchildren; Alyssa McAdams, Taylor Willis, Harrison McAdams, Luke McAdams, Brooklynn McAdams, Adelyn Brunson, Tessa Brunson, Baby Girl McAdams due Jan. 2017, Presley Scott, Emerson Scott, Chloe Guevera and Anthony Guevera, 2 great-great grandchildren; Cayleigh Morey and Marleigh Morey.

Pallbearers will be Derek McAdams, Justin McAdams, Ernest Gutierrez, Bob Harrison, Jr., James Harrison, Mike Bargo . Honorary pallbearer; David Rollins.

His granddaughter Cierra remembers him as being " the first man who taught her about God. Thankful for this saint who ran the race before her. And thankful that his last days on Earth were spent running towards Christ, the one whom he preached about in ministry and taught his grandkids about many years ago."

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith..." Hebrews 12:1-2
