Rev. Arthur Shaw Jr., 88, of Waco, was called home to be with the Lord on Nov 19, 2012. Arthur passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, November 29, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, in Mart, TX. Burial will follow at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Killeen, TX. A Wake will be from 6 to 8PM Wednesday November 28, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Arthur Shaw Jr. was born to Arthur Sr. and wife Nettie on July 10, 1924, in Palestine, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was honorably discharged in November 1945. Arthur was a graduate of Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX, where he received his B.A. in English. Arthur dedicated his life serving other Veterans as a staff member of the Waco Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waco, where he retired in 1983. He also owned and operated Shaw’s Automotive Garage in Waco, TX, while spending most of his free time hunting and fishing.
Arthur answered his calling to serve God in 1982, and joined Carver Park Baptist Church, in Waco, and was later ordained a minister. He spent countless hours in the Outreach and Street ministries. Rev. Arthur Shaw Jr. was later called to pastor at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, where he served for 18 years. He served God faithfully until his death.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Ruby and Leola.
He is survived by his beautiful loving wife of 58 years,Jessie Dorcus; one daughter, Audrey Denise; daughter-in-law, Carol Gay; Four sons, Michael Eric and wife Sheri, Arthur Victor, Mark Stephen, and Derrick Lynn; Six Grandchildren, Michael Eric Jr., Cody Alan, James Matthew, LaTonya Denise,LaKeshia Denise, and Arthur Victor II and wife Portia; Nine Great Grandchildren, Breanna, Arron, Lazarious, KeAudra, Darin, Ariyana, Bryan, Brandon and Braylen.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the countless friends and extended family. A special thanks to the Scott and White Hospice team (Anna, Shayla, Shauntrell, and Willimae) for their continued caring support and professionalism.
His passion for Peace and Love will be missed and never forgotten.
