Raymond Naylor Britton passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, in Waco, Texas. He was born May 17, 1936, in Moody, Texas to Naylor and Vera Britton. He graduated from Moody High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Nancy Carol Johnson, on April 23, 1966, in Bruceville, Texas. In 1953 Raymond began his career at KCEN-TV in the entry-level position of a janitor and retired 42 years later as operations manager of the station. He also served his community for 15 years as the Justice of the Peace and Magistrate for McLennan County, and Judge for Riesel, Troy, and Bruceville-Eddy. Raymond's service to Moody included Moody Municipal Judge for 32 years, Mayor of Moody for 8 years, and a member of the Moody Fire Department. Around 1977, Raymond and Nancy helped establish the Moody Volunteer Ambulance Service.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister La Vern Larza. Survivors include his wife Nancy Johnson Britton, daughter Staci Evins, and grandchildren Cody and Karli Stone.
Memorial service will be held at The Well, 520 Ave D, Moody on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 2:00 with Pastor Jason Dean officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Moody Fire Department, P.O. Box 68, Moody Texas or Project Elle, P.O. Box 308, Fate, Texas, 75132.
