Ray Supak, age 61, passed away May 17, 2009 at a local hospital. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 23, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellmead with Father Ed Karasek as celebrant. Following the church service burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Frenstat, Texas.
Ray was born on August 11, 1947 in Bryan, Texas to the late William L. and Rosie Charanza Supak. He graduated from Connally High School in 1965 and served in the United States Air Force. Ray married Rose Marie Riley on March 27, 1971. Ray retired after 37 years of dedicated service at the Waco V.A. Medical Center as the textile care manager. He was a member of the China Spring Lions Club for 25 years and held various offices including president. Ray was a member of NAILM, a facilitator for the American Laundry and Linen College and was also a member of the American Legion in West.
Ray enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughter and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. His hobbies included botany, gardening, photography and woodworking. He was a LOVING husband and father and will be greatly missed. Ray was preceded in death by his parents William L. and Rosie Supak; a twin brother, Roy E. Supak and a sister, Rosalie Veselka.
Ray is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rose Marie Supak of China Spring; a daughter, Tiffany Supak and grand-dog Allie of Hewitt; a brother, William Supak, Jr. of West and a sister, Marinell Gaas of Caldwell.
Pallbearers will be Duane Bednorz, Don Hancock, Larry Matus, Jerry Lee Veselka, Oscar Reyes and Bobby Zimmerman.
The family would like to thank the Providence Hospital Staff and long time family physician, William P. Coleman, M.D., who cared for him. Also to the Hillcrest Hospice nurses, supporters and volunteers for their wonderful, compassionate care during Ray’s last days with us.
Memorial donations may be made in Ray’s honor to the Hillcrest Hospice of Waco or to the China Spring Volunteer Fire Department.
