Perry Montgomery Johnson passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at his home in Waco, Texas, following a valiant battle with cancer at the young age of 45. Perry's wife, Lindsay, and youngest children were with him at his passing.
Perry, who was named after two great-grandfathers, Oliver Perry Foster and David Montgomery Haston, was born January 31, 1973, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Foster LeRoy and Jesse Dolores "Dee" Cochran Johnson.
Perry led a fairly normal early childhood, moving with his parents to Weatherford, Okla., in 1975 where he eventually began school. At the age of 6 he moved to Ruidoso, New Mex., with his mother and sister, Jennifer, until 1982 when he and his sister moved to Ponca City with their dad. They lived there until 1986, before moving to San Angelo, Texas, to live with their mother.
He completed his schooling in San Angelo. During that time he began working in the food service industry, a career that would find him working his way up through the ranks to eventually be a restaurant manager for Logan's Roadhouse. He didn't stop there though. Being the hard worker that he was, Perry continued to work his way up and became the General Manager for Logan's in Waco, Texas. He spent a total of 16 years with that company and made a huge impact on everyone he worked for as well as those who worked for him. Perry wasn't just a restaurant manager. He was your friend, your mentor. He took the time to listen and would give the best advice, even if you didn't want to hear it. He knew how to make you laugh, he knew how to make you cry and he could turn anything into a song or joke. After leaving Logan's Roadhouse, Perry went into management training for Cracker Barrel. Although he was only there for a short period of time before becoming ill, he had already made an impact on so many.
While living in Waco, Perry met the love of his life, Lindsay Harper, and they married in 2009. He became a step-dad to her son, Bryce Moon, a father figure to her niece/daughter, McKenna Harper and they welcomed 2 kids of their own, Aubree and Parker Johnson. Perry and Lindsay were truly meant to be. Their love for each other was unconditional. They overcame many obstacles throughout their years together proving that true love really does exist. She even grew to love the Boston Red Sox as much as he did. Their story is like none other.
Perry is survived by his wife, Lindsay; children Aubree Johnson, Parker Johnson and Bryce Moon of the home in Waco; Treasure Rufenacht and husband Conner of San Angelo; Noah Johnson of The Colony; Jaxon Johnson of San Angelo, Jonathan Padier-Johnson of San Angelo and McKenna Harper of Waco; his grandchildren Bentley and Berkley Rufenacht, Coraline and Wren and coming soon Ayden Rico; his parents, Foster and Charlanne Johnson of Edmond, Okla., a sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Randy Key of Coahoma, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Kimmy Bagby of Bakersfield, Calif., a step-brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Kristen Richardson of Edmond, Okla.; a sister-in-law Shonda Powers and husband David of Hewitt, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
