Paul Louis Otter passed away on May 28, 2010 after a year long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 2, 2010 at 2pm at Grace Gardens funeral home in Hewitt, Texas.
Paul was born July 9, 1956 to Lenora and Marvin “Mutt’ Otter in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Aldine High School in 1974 and continued his education at TSTC where he received an Associates Degree for Audio/Visual Production in 1988. He worked in the news industry as a photojournalist at KWTX, KXXV, and KCEN for the next 20 years, receiving a Katy award in 1994 for his story on Waco’s Challenger League. His love of sports inspired him to join the Baylor Vision team, whom he worked with for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Cynthia Otter, son Jeromy and his wife Mindy of Clifton, son Matthew of McGregor, and daughter Ashley also of McGregor. His greatest joy were his grandchildren Bailey, Brock, and Madison. He was preceded in death by his sister Marian Watkins and survived by her husband Ronnie Watkins of Woodway and is survived by his brother Edward Otter and his wife Kathy of Conroe. He is also survived by his parents Marvin and Lenora of Woodway, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a dedicated husband, father, Papa and a devoted friend. He was well respected in the news industry for his professionalism and his drive to deliver the news through the eye of his camera. He will be greatly missed by family and friends and coworkers but the memory of his sense of humor will bring a smile to all those that remember him.
