Paul Holroyd Jr. 69, of Hewitt, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017.There will be a visitation on Monday, Feb.6, 2017 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at Stonegate Community Church 10020 Panther Way, Hewitt, TX 76643 with Pastor Dick Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Paul was born to Paul Holroyd and Myrtle Irwin Holroyd on Dec. 19, 1947 in Waco, Texas. He was a lifelong Waco resident. Paul spent his early years in Speegleville where he was known as "Sonny" to his friends. He is an alumnus of Midway High School. He was a proud Aggie, where he attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Industrial Technology. He met his wife, Donna Lucas in 1973 on a blind date. They were married at the Speegleville Baptist Church and were married for 39 years. He began working for Central Texas Iron Works as a Safety Director for a number of years before beginning his career with the City of Hewitt in 1983, where he remained for almost 28 years before his retirement as the Director of Community Services in 2011. His son Paul Gordon Holroyd was born in April of 1986. Mr. Paul Holroyd Jr., served the community with the Hewitt Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He was involved with the Hewitt Chamber of Commerce and he was the recipient of the Hewitt Hero award in 1997.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Donna Lucas Holroyd and his son, Paul Gordon Holroyd.
