Otis Elkin

Otis T. Elkin passed away at his home in Moody, TX on 8/30/09. Otis was born July 28, 1923 in Moody, Texas. He attended and graduated from Moody High School in 1943. He enlisted in the service of his country during WWII, serving in the China-India-Burma theater of operations. He returned to the Moody area where he married Arlene Louise Burge of Ada,Oklahoma.
Otis was a business owner in the Moody area for many years. He also served his community as a member and president of the school board, member of the city council, and various civic boards and service organizations. He was employed as Assistant to the County Clerk of McLennan County for 12 years. He was a Life-member of the Z. S. Teague Masonic Lodge, #568, AM & FM. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moody.
Otis was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Arlene Louise Elkin, his parents, Jeff and Novella Elkin, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his son, Vann Dean Elkin, two sisters, Lois McGregor of Temple, TX and Pansy Stewart of Victoria, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Sept. 2 at 10:30am at the Moody Cemetery.
