Norma Woodland

January 19, 1926 — September 16, 2011

Norma Woodland came into this world as Norma Lee Heiman on January 19, 1926. She left this world peacefully on September 16, 2011 with her son and daughter by her side.

Born to Odean and Marion Heiman in Beaumont, Texas, she was one of four, one sister Effie and two brothers, John and Junie. Norma had an adventurous youth with her siblings and her good friend Edith. Many of those tales will remain a mystery but the countless stories of floundering, crabbing and just plain having fun go on forever. She met, married and devoted her life to the handsome military man, Bill Woodland with whom she had two children Wayne Woodland, his wife Shirley and Judy Grisham, her husband Kenny. Norma loved talking about and caring for her grandchildren Brandi, Jennifer, Sam, Matt and Brandon. She also enjoyed her great grandchildren Tristen, Lane, Login, Westin, Hayden, Trista, Kyler, Nick and Charleigh.

Norma had a passion for cooking, gumbo being one of her favorites. Any story or memory of Norma always involves great food, prepared by loving hands. Life for Norma was rich in a wealth of family, friends and fellowship. Evenings spent in the back porch swing with MawMaw will be treasured memories and her recipes will handed down for generations.

In celebration of Norma’s life, a time of remembrance will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Chapel located at the Providence Park St Catherine facility.

Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or the American Diabeties Association. The family would like to invite you to leave messages and memories at www.gracegardensfh.com
