Norma Louise Edgecomb passed away Saturday, July 11, 2014. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at the Hewitt First United Methodist Church, 600 S. First Street, Hewitt TX 76643. After the service there will be a light lunch offered at the reception hall. In addition, a memorial service will be held at the Crossroads United Methodist Church 2000 Scatterfield Rd. Anderson, Indiana 46012 August 9, 2014 from 1p.m. until 3p.m.
Norma was born March 11, 1936 to the late James M. Bevill and the late Ruth Louise Bevill in Anderson, Indiana. Of her many accomplishments she auditioned and was accepted to sing with the First Baptist Church of Tampa at the age of 11 while her family was living in Florida. After the family moved back to Anderson, she graduated Anderson Senior High School and married Jack E. Edgecomb on October 2, 1953. She loved her family and church.
Norma was a homemaker and also went to Apex Beauty College and received her license as a Beautician. She operated a small shop at her home in Anderson for three years. She worked as a secretary for the Park Place United Methodist Church for 10 years. She was then a secretary at Maplewood Cemetery for three years. She worked for the Anderson Community School System for 10 years.
Norma loved the arts she loved music, theater, and she was an avid painter. For many years she earned numerous first place ribbons at the local, county and state fair’s of Indiana for her entries in decorative art. She attended the Ann Kingsland School of art and received her Teachers certificate. She taught decorative art painting to many students and was an active member of the Indy Decorative Artists Association. She also enjoyed the great outdoors camping, fishing, hiking and boating. She got to see many of the great historical sites in this country during the many family trips we took.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth on June 26, 1972 and her father, James on October 6, 1991 and her sister, Janeen on August 15, 2009.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack E. Edgecomb; and their sons, Jack Jr. and wife, Felicita, Michael and wife, Beth and Patrick and wife, Julie; five grandchildren, Andrea, Lisa, Emily, Christopher and Tiffany; five great- grandchildren, Tate, Elisa, Anthony, Remy and Gianna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Wesley Woods and their staff for the love and care shown during this difficult time. The family also wishes thank Providence Hospice Care and members of the Hewitt First Methodist Church for their love and support.
