Nora Pace

Nora K. Pace, 85, of Hewitt, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Scrivener officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Nora was born April 3, 1932 to Robert and Docia Payton Layman in Grayson County, Kentucky. She loved her home state, but after marrying Everett “Bill” Pace, they lived in different countries while Bill followed his dream with the United States Army. Nora helped serving as the “first lady” to his soldiers. Nora enjoyed their travels while experiencing different cultures. While they were stationed in Germany they learned to square dance and a lifelong passion was born. They spent many years dancing together all over the country.

Nora and Bill retired to Hewitt, TX and she became involved with square dancing, camping and The Sassy Red Hatters, where she served as Queen Mother. She worked at Mars Candy and the Baylor Bookstore. In many quiet ways Nora touched lives and her circle of friends were a close-knit family.

Mrs. Pace was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters Lucille and Mabel, and brother Owen. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two brothers Robert and John, nieces and nephews, a host of square dance friends, plus her immediate adopted family of girl friends.
