Newton Sharp

Newton Edward Sharp, 82, golfer, bowler, Aggie, granddaughters hero, devoted husband and father went to be with the Lord after a short battle with cancer on February 21, 2017 at his home in Waco, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church Waco Texas.

Ed was raised in Waco and graduated from Waco high school in 1952. After graduating he attended Texas A&M university where he served in the Corps of Cadets. He graduated in 1956 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Upon graduation, he went to work for General Tire in Waco Texas as a quality engineer. In 1966, he and his family moved to the DFW area where he went to work for LTV/Vought aerospace as a quality engineer for the Corsair A-7 program. He retired in 1995 after 29 years of service. In 1998, Ed and Beverly, returned to Waco to be closer to family and friends. Ed was kind and giving, making weekly runs with his church to deliver food and necessities to families in need. He was active in the Karem Shrine and duffers. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling but his biggest passion was anything A&M related. He loved spending time with his family. This particularly showed when his wife Beverly was diagnosed with ALS, he devoted his life to her care for five years until the disease took her life in 2013.

Ed was born on May 14, 1934 in Waco Texas and was preceded in death by his parents Newton T. Sharp and Eula Mae Gatlin and his beloved wife Beverly in 2013.

His surviving children are, Brian Edward Sharp of Fort Worth, and Suzanne Sharp Martinez and her husband, Angel, of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter, Allyson Nicole Martinez of Arlington, Texas; and brother-in-law, Ron Robinson of Woodway, Texas; and numerous family and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Gary Barbin, Dr. Brian Berryman and Dr. Carl Chakmakjian and Providence hospice for their care and compassion during his illness.
